Mariposa provides award winning landscape maintenance services for Eastmark Great Park, which is owned and run by the City of Mesa. This 13-acre public park is the connection/recreational hub of the community, and features turf, desert and wetlands elements including a lake; a splash pad; acres of grassy fields; drought-tolerant gardens; a 3/4 acre fitness/playground; event pavilion; and walking/bike paths. Several landscaping challenges we resolve regularly are: a steep grassy terrain that must be mowed by a walk-behind mower and can only be cut when it is dry; and an irrigation system that uses reclaimed water from the lake, with a small spray system that easily becomes clogged. And third, the park is used by the students of the adjacent schools, so trash, irrigation repairs and soil compaction are ongoing issues we handle.
Landscaping tasks we perform here include cleaning, pressure washing, irrigation, sprinkler system maintenance, trimming, mowing, weed control, fertilization, over-seeding, and much more, depending on whether the area is turf, desert, or a combination of both.

One of our most interesting installation projects is called “Musical Shadows” which we built in the north plaza of the arts and museum complex in the City of Mesa. This unique hardscape and audio public interactive feature contains tri-colored pavers which are designed to play music when sensors embedded in them are triggered by shadows or when stepped on. Small speakers connected to the sensors play the sounds. We were told that this is the first one of this kind in the world.
We were contracted to install the pavers, but we were not responsible for the underground technology. Tasks performed included the removal of existing trees, sub-base preparation, addition of sand, and the installation of the pavers.
This was a very challenging project due to the fact that the pavers were pre-drilled for the sensors and the speakers. The installation needed to be precise in order for the holes in the pavers to match the (already installed) speakers and sensors. To add to these challenges, the materials were purchased and prepared outside of the United States.

Award winning, complete landscape maintenance services are performed weekly at Red Mountain Park. This 304 acre, multi-purpose, recreational compound is comprised of large grassy fields, several sports fields, a fishing lake, picnic areas, playgrounds, trails and a community center. We provide expert tree care for the many varieties of trees that thrive throughout the park, and keep the turf, desert gardens and cacti healthy through wise water management and regular attention. Seasonal services such as over-seeding, aeration, fertilizing, and environmentally-friendly weed control are provided within a strategic schedule.
The two biggest challenges for this site are the sports fields and the irrigation system. The sports fields are mowed only once a week and require picking up clippings. We are required to keep a perfect balance between water and nutrients to avoid excessive clippings collection. Also, the sports fields are used by various sports leagues year round making soil compaction an ongoing condition to overcome. The irrigation system uses the water from the lake on site. Our staff provides close attention to keep the duty water flowing properly through the small spray system.
In addition we maintain several large parking lots, keeping them debris-free and the surrounding gravel and hardscapes well groomed. This extensive park is part of our contract with the City of Mesa for a variety of services that benefit its residents.

The golf course at Roadhaven Resort boasts healthy expanses of turf, vibrant border gardens and greens groomed to regulation standards. This was sadly not the case in the spring of 2016. When we were invited to bid on this project, nearly 50% of the turf was dead or dying. Our challenge was to restore the health and functionality of a nine-hole golf course that is the central landscape feature and most popular recreational draw of this resort. In just three months we had succeeded in reviving 90% of the turf. We adjusted the irrigation system to maximize the needs of each green, while conserving water through wise management practices. Thatch removal, aerating, proper feeding and weed abatement helped bring the turf back to vibrant health, and mowing according to regulation standards make this well-groomed course in Apache Junction a delight for all who play it.
Mariposa maintains the beauty of the grass, trees and flowering shrubs weekly in the jewel-like parks and common areas of Donatela. We further support the health of the parks with regular tree trimming and a customized feeding and weed abatement plan. The irrigation system is adjusted to provide the right amount of water for every season, and is monitored and serviced to keep the variety of plant-life in this Goodyear community thriving.
